Since the founding of Lagar H, we have developed corporate projects that fit within the guidelines of the UN Global Compact and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, our good practices meet 16 of the 17 SDGs set out in the Pact, equivalent to 94% compliance with the objectives. Through these projects, we seek to create a positive impact on the communities where we operate and contribute to the sustainable development of the country.
Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is a universal call for companies to align their strategies and operations with the Ten Universal Principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption and develop actions that contribute to facing society's challenges. Those who are part of the Global Compact also assume the responsibility of contributing to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in 2015, in consensus with the 193 member countries of the United Nations, in the 2030 Agenda, which outlines an action plan to be carried out over these 15 years.
Today, it is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 16 thousand participants, including companies and organizations, covering 160 countries. The Global Compact is not a regulatory instrument, a mandatory code of conduct or a forum to police management policies and practices. It is a voluntary initiative that provides guidelines for promoting sustainable growth and citizenship through committed and innovative corporate leadership.
